Notlar	Ms. codex.Title from title page (fol. 1a; partly wanting).Physical description: 29 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red and green. Subject headings in red or green on the margins. Dark cream European paper with watermark. Some quires (mainly quinions) are numbered using Arabic numerals in the form "K 6" (see fol. 50a). Prayer for Abū Bakr, ʻUmar, ʻUthmān, ʻAlī, etc. on the upper margin of fol. 1b (later hand); inscriptions on fol. 120b; table of the numerical value of letters (abjad) on the pastedown of the lower cover. Small piece of paper with verses of poetry and impression of a seal dated 1261 H. placed between fol. 28 and 29. According to catchwords and collation, some leaves are wanting. See between fol. 20 and 21, fol. 78 and 79.Inscription in Roman script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "AUT 22" (repeated in red pencil).Origin: According to colophon, copy completed in the middle of Rajab 1178 [Jan. 1765] by al-Ḥājj Muḥammad Ibn al-shaykh ʻAbd Allāh al-Khawwāṭ (fol. 120a).Incipit: بسم ... الحمد لك يا من تقدس بقديم ذاته عن التشبيه والنظير ... اما بعد (فيقول العبد المتردى برداء الحقار المتسربل بسربال الاحتياج والافتقار شمس الدين محمد بن احمد بن ابى الثنا محمود بن محمد بن محمد بن جانبك ثم ابن ابى عصرو[--] الشهير بالكنجى تداركه الله تعالى بعفوه وغفرانه ...) لما اطلعنى الله على كتاب زهر الربيع فى انواع البديع اخذت اجول في رياض بساتينهExplicit: غير ذلك مما يمتع النواظر ويسر الخواطر والحمد لله الذى بنعمته اتم الصالحات وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد سيد السادات واشرف المخلوقات ومنبع الكرامات وعلى اله واصحابه وتابعيه واحزابه وسلم تسليما كثيرا الى يوم الدين ابدا سرمدا يا رب العالمين امين قال المولف وكان الفراغ من تاليفه بعد الظهر يوم الثلاثا الثالث عشر من شوال سنة ثلاث وعشرين وماية والف - Quarter bound with flap in yellow paper and brown leather. Disbound; spine and fore-edge flap broken. Inscriptions on covers. - Treatise on metaphors and similes or comparisons (tashbīh), in eight chapters (bāb). See description of content in preamble, fol. 2a-b. According to the end of the text (fol. 120a), the treatise was completed on 13 Shawwāl 1123 [Nov. 24, 1711].
