European glazed paper with watermark. The topics are written in the margins. Few marginal notes. Inscriptions in Arabic and Persian on the upper cover pastedown and fol. 1a, and on fol. 228b. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Copied at the end of Jumādá al-Ulá 1050 (or 1005?) by Ḥasan ibn ʻAlī (colophon, fol. 227a).Incipit: الحمد لله الذي جعلني من علماء البيان و المعانىExplicit: وبالغت فى زاره(؟) باللطايف لانّ كلستآن موضع الفرح غفر الله تعالى له ولي وسائر المسلمين تم شرح الكلستان في آخر - Pare pasted over brown leather on paper pasteboards. Lower cover is wanting. - Arabic commentary on the Gulistān of Saʻdī. In the introduction, the author states that he composed this work for the sultan Muṣtafá ibn Sulaymān (d. 960/1553). The date of composition of the text is left blank in this copy (see fol. 227a: "tamma Sharḥ al-Gulistān fī ākhar"). In other copies at Princeton, it is given as Rabīʻ al-Thānī 957.
