Notlar Ms. codex.Title from preamble (fol. 3b).22 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Apparently several hands. Thin light cream paper with watermark. Fol. 1 and 418 thicker than the other leaves. Inscriptions on the pastedown of the upper cover and on fol. 1a, including verses of poetry. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits a fol. between fol. 1 and 2). Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "369 s[īn]". Inscription in Roman script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover (repeated in red pencil on the pastedown): "126Y". The same inscription appears on a spine label (vertical).Copy completed on Friday 8 Rajab 980 [Nov. 14, 1572] by ʻAlī Ibn al-ʻAlam al-Qudsī in Damascus (colophon, fol. 417b).Incipit: الحمد لله المتفضل على خلقه بفتح ابواب الرحمة المحسن الى اهل الملة الحنفية ... وبعد فهذا نختصر استخرجت الله تعالى في جمعه وسالته المعونة الي بفضله في ترتيب وضعه يتضمن تاريخ البيت المقدسExplicit: حين عوده من غزه في شهر ذي القعده الحرام سنه تسعمايه واجازني بروايتهما عنه اعز الله به الدين وادام بقاه للمسلمين وهذا اخر ما تيسرك ذكره [417أ] من اخبار بيت المقدس وبلاد سيدنا الخليل عليه السلام ... فما كان فيه من الصواب فمن الله ... والله الموفق وكانت ابتداي فى جمعه فى خامس عشرين ذي الحجه سنه تسعمايه ... فكان الفراغ من ... في اليوم المبارك نهار الاثنين السابع عشر من شهر رمضان المعظم ... من شهور سنه احدي وتسعمايه قال المولف رحمه الله ووافق الفراغ من كتابة هذه النسخه ... في ضحى يوم الحميس السادس من شهر جمادي الاخره سنه اثنتي وسبعمايه من الهجرة النبوية الشريفة ... [417ب] ... والحمد لله وحده حمدا كثيرا دايما - Golden brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. The covers are similarly blind-tooled, with a central oblong stamp and an outer border consisting of fillets. Similar outer border on the envelope flap, with small stamp on its point. Yellow paper pastedowns and doublure of envelope flap. Leather doublure on the fore-edge flap. - History of Jerusalem and al-Khalīl and other places, from biblical times to the end of 900 H. (see preamble, fol. 2a), completed on 17 Ramaḍān 901 [May 30, 1496] (see end of text). The text is followed after the colophon by 10 verses of poetry attributed to "al-Shaykh" dated 1156 and written by ʻAbd al-Karīm Ibn Muḥammad al-ʻImād.
