Written in small naskh in black ink with use of red; red text-stops on fol. 1b. European paper with watermark. Collation notes and subject headings on the margin; occasional annotations. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including an ownership statement. Stained with water; margins worm-eaten; fragile.Origin: According to colophon, copy completed by Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Qūṣūwī (Hitti reads: al-Qūnawī; Partington reads: al-Qūṣī?) fī Madrasat Qalīl...? on Saturday (shambeh) 29 Shaʻbān 1039 [April 13, 1630] (fol. 112a).Basmallah: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم رب تمم بالخير الحسيب النسيبIncipit: الحمد لله الحسيب الرقيب على نواله ايمانا واحتسابا والصلوة على رسوله محمد الحسيب النسيب وآله ما لا يحصى كتابا ولا حسابا (اما بعد فقد) جمع عبده الغريق فى بحر فضله الطامة عمر بن محمد بن عوض الشئامى الهمه الله تع تقواه فيما يكتسب ... فى تصنيف هذا الكتاب وهو نصاب الاحتساب مسائل اختصت بالنسبة الى حسبExplicit: الجواب نعم لان عمر رضى الله تع عنه اخرج اخت ابى بكر رضى الله تع عنه من بيته حين ناحت عليه [--] من صحيح البخارى تم بعون الملك المنان وانا ارجو من غفران الزلات بفضله وكرمه لانى ذو الخطايا والخطيات - Treatise on iḥtisāb according to the Ḥanafī legal school, comprising 64 chapters (bāb). The dates of the author are uncertain. According to Brockelmann, he wrote after 993/1585 in Bukhārā. However, for Ziriklī, d. 696/1297. The modern editor of the text, M. Izzi Dien, dates the author to the 7th-8th c./13th-14th c. and argues that his nisbah should be read al-Sunāmī (The theory and practice of market law in medieval Islam, 1997).
