Notlar Cover title., "Reprinted from the Jewish Quarterly Review, New Series, v.25 (4), "This number of the Jewish Quarterly Review is being devoted to articles that have to do with the works of Moses Maimonides as a very slight contribution in commemoration of the eight hundredth anniversary of the birth of this great man. I wish to call attention to one article here printed, namely, an abbreviated translation, or as he put it, a free rendering of the Iggeret Teman which was done into English many years ago by my distinguished and beloved teacher, Doctor Sabato Morais. Doctor Morais used the Hebrew translation of Rabbi Nahum ha-Maarabi which was made about 1240. The original manuscript of Doctor Morais' translation does not furnish any date of its composition but it was probably done at least sixty years ago. As a matter of piety and because I think the rendering is noble in its style I have decided to publish the condensed translation from the Hebrew, of the famous letter of Maimonides."--Cyrus Adler.
