Notlar With the illustration of an unidentified synagogue (featuring four windows, a vestibule entrance, and an attic chapel), titled "אשטו אס לה קזאה די אלוהים" (Esto es la cazah de Elohim - this is the House of God; f. 33r). | In Turkish with Hebrew words (Hebrew characters), with occasional words or phrases in Judeo-Spanish (for example, f. 33r) | Gift of Louis M. Epstein to Hebrew Teachers College (Roxbury, Massachusetts), 1947 (bookplate, inside front cover).
Örnek Metin This is a manuscript of hymns mostly in Judeo-Turkish, with selections in Hebrew and Judeo-Spanish. The manuscript begins with a partial table of contents (f. 1r) with many titles in Hebrew, written in a rough hand. The title page is decorated with floral designs, with the title in large square script (f. 1v). The hymns follow individual patterns in the Turkish Maqam musical system with the designation of each hymn heading the opening in small script letters (such as Rast, Segâh, and Nikriz), following the layout example of the printed edition of the hymns of R. Israel b. Mosheh ibn Najara of Damascus (Venice: Giovanni da Gara, 1598-1599). The Hebrew hymns feature Piyutim of Israel ibn Najara and Avtalyon b. Mordekhai of Edirne (17th century). Written in a semi-cursive Turkish Hebrew script in various inks; decorated with flora on the synagogue illustration (f. 33r); pages ruled, with portions ruled in lead, ink, or hard-point ruling. Bound in a contemporary brown leather binding.
